While working on my Masters Thesis on the American Revolution, I came up with an interesting thought. During the Revolution, and a glorious revolution it was, we were fighting for an individual national identity--separate from Britain and the rest of Europe. We didn't want to be identified with European ways. We wanted our own destiny. Lately, it seems, we are reversing ourselves. We want European laws, money, political thoughts and ways. WHY? Why are we changing a system that is not broken? Well, you say, we have so many poor who are not able to prosper because the rich just get richer. Hmmm...funny, welfare cutoffs prevent those on the Gov't subsidy from truly escaping the grasp. You must depend upon the master in order to exist. Obama money, government handouts, free money, free healthcare, free education (now college), free houses. Didn't anyone mention there is no such thing as "free."
We must return to our old identity--the rugged individual nation that is not afraid to be different from the rest. Grasp hold of capitalism. Free the poor from the grasp of government slavery. Dismantle the over-burdened federal regulation system. Restore naturally existing free-market functions (i.e. banks don't loan to people that can't afford what they want to buy...credit cards are for those who pay them off, etc.). Change the mantra. We don't need to punish the rich to give to the poor. Punish the corrupt and free the poor.
Punish corrupt politicians -- democrat, republican, socialist, communist, independent, it doesn't matter.
Punish corrupt business leaders.
Punish corrupt special interest groups.
Punish state governments who never say no to the good-idea fairy.
Free the poor from welfare through personal responsibility in your OWN COMMUNITY...don't look to the government...look to your neighbor, your neighborhood, your town, your church, ... and YOURSELF.
Free the poor from government oversight--where they live, what the eat, where they work, how much they earn.
Free the poor from the grasp of government and you will experience the restoration of America.
Free politicians from the grasp of special interest money and lobbying and you will restore the Republic.
Free the nation from the grasp of socialist/marxist experiments and you will rediscover Liberty.
Freedom does not lie in the hands of government, or in the boundaries of a nation or state...Freedom my friend is in YOUR hands. Freedom is never free. Remember those who paid the price so that we may reap the benefits. Freedom is NOT free.

Absolutely fabulous article. One of the best thing to recognize in America....it's about the Americans, not the government. One of my favorite pieces was originally done by a mentor of mine, Dr. Oliver DeMille on The 14 Points to Success in a Fourth Turning. This fits so well with your article, I wanted to provide the link. Enjoy. http://thestarforum.wordpress.com/2009/05/13/14-points-to-success-during-a-4th-turning/
ReplyDeleteStar Forum,
ReplyDeleteI reviewed the 14 points and the "fourth turning." Fascinating concepts in those 14 points. I like the idea of "grow up" America. Take personal responsibility...face life head-on, and embrace what is -- you can't change the past...don't fear the present...and look to the future.
